This quote just struck me. "There seems to be some perverse human characteristic that likes to make easy things difficult."
-Warren Buffett
When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person realize his dream.
-Paulo Coelho
How often do you take a simple process; say "Live on less than you make" and attempt to make it complex? Somethings are complex and multi layered. However many things in life are very easy. We need only to agree that this is how they are and do them with passion and dedication.
I have been digging this running to work thing. Monday I dropped DW car off for a check up and ran to work 1.3 mile and did 100 pull ups, 200 push ups and 300 squats and another mile run on the tread mill. BRUTAL! There is a reason they're called Hero WODs.
Tomorrow is my last day sans my girls so I am going to put it all on the line. I think I am going to push the office gym to the limit. Very tempted to run the long way to work. That might be over doing it.
****UPDATE****
My better sense over ruled me today and I rant the 2.60 mile route to work today. It was a much better idea than what I was thinking about by running the 6.1 route. After yesterday's WOD I really didn't need to test my mettle.
I honestly didn't feel Murph (1 mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 squats, 1 mile run) until I had run about .25 mile. Ahhh, good old heavy leg-itis struck around mile .35 and it was tough picking my legs up from there. However, I did it and I enjoyed the run. There were a lot of cars out today and I am so glad I wore my reflective vest.
This AM I was thinking about the running cert and level 1 cert I want to do next year. I THINK my form is pretty good, but I need to work on my endurance. I feel like my mileage is decreasing pretty significantly. 6 seems to be my top at the current moment. Anyway, I feel like I am getting the POSE right. I might check out some of the local CF that do run training and glean from wisdom from them about it.
I got to the office and decided I was going to do my own version of a Super Villain WOD. I made this one up and named it Thanos from the Marvel Universe. There is a reason he's called the Mad Titan. OUCH! 3 pull ups 6 push ups 9 burpees and you add 3 to each skill until you're doing 18 burpees. This is where the MAD part comes in. You're supposed to work your way down by 3's until you're back down to 3,6,9. Um Thanos is also known as the personification of death in Marvel comics. That's exactly that I felt like after I hit 18 burpees and couldn't move to work my way down. There was a lady in the gym this AM watching me and she had to have thought I was dead, because I laid on that floor for about 10 minutes praying that I could figure out why I do this to myself everyday. Needless to say I failed at my own Super Villain WOD today.
I just want to say this that whoever made up the Burpee is amazing. That has to be one of the easiest skills to learn and the hardest skills to do. I guess it's not humiliating because you used to do it in 3rd grade gym class and now 20+ years later it's still jumping on your back and wearing you down.
